Bespoke mentoring programmes
If you would like to engage a writing mentor to support the development of your work we might be able to help both find you a mentor and to manage the process. Mentoring schemes cost around £2,000-£2,500 and for this you would receive a six- to eight-month engagement process with a professional writer. The writer would work with you to identify the developmental needs of your work, plan a timetable to develop the work and then coach you through the process, reading work as and when agreed. Every writer is different and New Writing North can help to design a programme that will suit your needs. New Writing North does not operate this service to make money but has created it in response to needs expressed by writers. We also believe that working as a mentor can be part of a satisfying portfolio of work for a writer and on this basis offering paid for services helps to fuel the writing economy.

New Writing North supports mentoring for writers as part of the Northern Writers’ Awards each year and when we can identify subsidy for mentoring we do so. Keep an eye on the front page of the website for opportunities.
