A reader’s guide to the North East

The North East is one of the busiest centres for live literature and literary events in the UK and is home to many regular programmes of work. The region has also caught the book group bug and in libraries, arts centres and often pubs and cafes across the region book clubs are thriving. This is partly because the region is home to many writers and writing and reading go hand in hand to create a vibrant cultural scene.

To the left you can click through to information on regular events programmes and to information about our own regional book group network. We’ve also produced a Google map of venues where regular activity happens to help you find your way around.

Keep informed
The best way to keep in regular touch with what’s happening is to sign up to our free e-bulletin, The Listening Post, which comes out monthly and previews events coming up from a range of promoters and publishers. This is free to subscribe to, as is our Book Club newsletter, which also comes out monthly via email and previews books coming up, special offers and book group-only event invitations. Sign up for these bulletins by emailing olivia@newwritingnorth.com.

You can also follow New Writing North on Twitter and on Facebook.
