THE SERIES – The Rhyme Rocket : CBeebies
“The Rhyme Rocket” will aid basic literacy amongst early year’s children and open the audience’s eyes to a mouth-watering world of tongue-twisting, eye-popping and laugh out loud rhymes, poems and songs. It is due to be aired on in mid-March, with a second series in the summer.
THE TOUR – The Rhyme Rocket Mission
The events will take place at 5 UK locations in mid April/early May 2012.
1. Glasgow – 19 & 20 April
2. Washington, Tyne and Wear – 24 &25 April
3. London - 30 April & 1 May
4. Salford, North West – 3 & 4 May
5. Armagh, Northern Ireland – 10 & 11 May
The Rhyme Rocket Mission will be a place for children to laugh and learn through the creation and performance of rhymes. On each day there will be a morning and an afternoon session, with 90 children invited to each. They will be split into 3 groups and rotate around the workshops and performances.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
At each of our 5 locations we are looking for enthusiastic performers/poets with great ideas which will engage and entertain our young audience of 4-6 year olds. The performances should be 15 minutes each and could be combined with an end performance with all 90 children interacting.
In addition the Rhyme Rocket TV crew want to film original poems/performances at each location that will be used for the second series of the programme. They will have been written for the series, should last no more than a minute and inspire a pre-school audience. Please note that the poems must be spoken and not sung.
WHAT DO WE REQUIRE?
We’d love to hear your ideas for performances and poems which would take place at the events. We are looking for the widest possible range of styles, be they beat boxers, storytellers, rappers, puppeteers, percussionists….the list is endless. They will all have something in common though – the children will be captivated and inspired by them!
We are looking for:
• Ideas for a performance based workshop (which could be taken around all 5 venues) or just at one venue
• And/or 1 minute performance based on one of the following themes for the programme you have been assigned:
